Tay Candle Cintamani Design Candle, "Three Dots"

The Cintamani motif, consisting of three dots, is a mythical or symbolic jewel in various cultures, particularly in Hindu, Buddhist, and Turkish traditions. It has been linked to a tale in which the ruler Timur "dipped three fingers in the blood of an enemy and pressed them on the door of a mosque to indicate that he was seizing it personally" (J. Train, Oriental Rug Symbols, London, 1997). The term "Cintamani" is Sanskrit and can be translated to mean "wish-fulfilling jewel" or "thought gem". This design became a significant decorative symbol during the Ottoman period, being employed in ceramics, textiles, and book illumination. 13 cm diameter x 18 cm height.
